ILVO, Vlaco npo, the Province of East Flanders, the University of Ghent and PCG organise on Tuesday 10th of September an open air info/demo event aimed at farmers, contractors, producers of compost and digestate, governments and researchers. The goal is to show the long-term effects of digestate and compost on the general soil quality.

Demo-locations are the trial fields and extensive composting site of ILVO in Merelbeke as well as the trial fields of UGhent in Melle.

Specifically the divulged information will be about

  • the most important research results of years of scientific research by ILVO, UGent, Vlaco and PCG concerning the soil quality and the link with the use of digestate and compost,
  • the ILVO extensive composting site with new covered warehouse,
  • the importance of a healthy soil in the fight against erosion (Steunpunt Erosie (Province of East Flanders)),
  • the practical side of theuse of compost anddigestate in Flanders (Vlaco).

This showcase is made possible by Project Nutriman, a Horizon2020 project, which aims to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge about innovative, available nutrient recovery techniques and products on the one hand, and the efforts of European farmer EN Soilcom, an Interreg North Sea Region project, on the other.
