Agriculture and food industry having a high dependence on resources in their production and striving for long-term sustainability. In this context there is an urgent need to optimise resource use and smooth the transition to a knowledge driven agriculture. The NUTRIMAN is supporting the need to spread knowledge and network information towards agricultural practitioners about the insufficiently exploited N/P recovery innovative research results (technologies, products, practices). The project objective is to improve the exploitation of the N/P nutrient management/recovery potential for the ready for practice cases not sufficiently known by practitioners.
The NUTRIMAN is Nitrogen and Phosphorus nutrient recovery management and nutrient recovery thematic network, which is compiling knowledge ready for practice. Large scale take up of the recovered N/P innovative fertilisers targeted, produced from un-exploited resources of organic or secondary raw materials in line with the circular economy model, and economical/environmental efficiently used by farmers. This two days conference is focus on summarising, sharing and presenting the three years project results, about the existing nutrient recovery innovation and matured research and technical development results that are near close to being put into practice, but not sufficiently known or used by practitioners. The approach is 'bottom-up' way and focus on the most urgent needs of farmers. The demand driven innovations for agriculture related to crop production are ready “ready for practice” and commercial market introduction, that is supporting the interest and benefits of the users and farmers.
All these NUTRIMAN web Farmer Platform nutrient recovery product and technology innovations demonstrating full compliance new EU Fertilizing Products Regulations EU 2019/1009 already now, which will be implemented from July 16, 2022, and linked to EIP-AGRI and ensure larger willingness to adopt innovations and improve multiplicator effects. Highlights for NUTRIMAN results and impacts:
- Collection and distribution of easily accessible practice-oriented knowledge on the N/P recovery thematic area, including delivering “practice abstracts” in eight languages in the common EIP-AGRI format and audio-visual materials;
- Conserving the practical knowledge for the long term ten years beyond the project period >2031 and using the main trusted dissemination channels which farmers/foresters consult most often, and also serve education and training purposes;
- Increasing the flow of practical information between farmers in Europe in a geographically balanced way, creating spill-overs and taking account of the differences between territories; and
- Achieving greater user acceptance of collected Farmer Platform solutions on the NUTRIMAN web www.nutriman.net and a more intensive dissemination of existing knowledge.
During the first day September 16, 2021 the NUTRIMAN results and future opportunities presented, while during the second day September 17, 2021 pyrolysis material and biochar specific presentations made.
